Nana Patekar recalls fight with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Anil Sharma: ‘I can’t control my anger’ | Hindi Movie News

Nana Patekar is known for his acting, but is also noted for his short temper. The veteran actor has worked with him Vidhu Vinod Chopra IN Parinda, Sanjay Leela Bhansali IN Khamoshi and opened up about how he ended up falling out with his directors.
During the shooting of Parinda, there were several reports of major clashes between Nana Patekar and the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. After these incidents, Vidhu realized how to work hard with Nana. One of their confrontations resulted in a remarkable scene in the film. Apart from Nana, the film also starred Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff.
Addressing this controversy, Nana told The Lallantop that she does not like Vidhu at all. He explained, “I can’t control my anger. I couldn’t before and I still can’t. What happens is that every scene has a tone. When we speak or say something, it has a tone. Every context has a tone. We know where we started. Let’s stay there. We understand the notes of each scene. Let’s stick to our tone.”
Nana further said that Vidhu has some nonsensical habits. He wants to say all this in front of Vidhu, not behind his back. Nana said, “Every time we meet, I feel like this will be the last time.”

Nana mentioned that she never worked with him Anil Sharma of Gadar fame. He said, “Anil sets the scenes very well. He told me he couldn’t teach me acting. So I said, just set the camera. We know the character, let’s do it our way.” Nana stated that dragging a scene unnecessarily is not right.
In 1996, Nana Patekar acted in a film called Khamoshi. This film featured Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala and Seema Biswas alongside Nana. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in this film, the characters of Nana and Seema were mute and deaf. Nana shared an incident from this film where he had a fight with Sanjay Leela Bhansali over a scene.
Nana explained, “Seema Biswas’ character, my wife, has a heart attack. We’re both dumb, and she’s behind me. I’m playing cards. I don’t know what is happening behind me. Now, Sanjay wanted me to look back. He said she is my wife, and we have a non-verbal connection. I have to feel inside that something is happening behind me, so I have to go back. But I needed a reason to go back. I asked him why I have to go back when I don’t know what’s going on.”

This scene led to a heated argument between Nana and Sanjay. He added, “Though Sanjay didn’t work with me after that film, I could have said a lot. I believe that our relationship should not be just about work. There should be a relationship beyond work. Whether we work together or not. Movies come and go and fail. But the memories stay with us.”
Nana Patekar also said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a good director but he cannot control his anger.
